40th year

16-01-2016

Shaping up to be the best yet It was September 1975 that Andel Plastics Ltd first came into being, then known as Carawere Ltd. It was later renamed after the two founders wives And(rea) and El(een). It was later taken over by Barrie Flowers and Andrea Flowers and has since been transferred to their daughter Helen Pitt and Graham Robinson. Having survived ferrying employee's to work during the Handsworth riots, a move to Tyseley in 1987 the business moved to it's current premises on the Kings road in 2011. Andel has weathered recessions and the skills gap that came about due to the downturn in manufacturing, not many people felt it was a stable career choice. After the move to Kings road and the purchase of the company by Helen and Graham, the succession plan was finally completed and expansion has been well underway since. We started with a rebranding exercise to establish what values our customers trusted in us, shaped it and ensured we took it forward with a fresh look. Having done their first exhibitions in the last few years, the investment and hard work is paying off with more expansion plans afoot for 2016. Helen Pitt, Managing Director has commented that the foundations and principles of high quality and good personal service are the core of the new look business and that these will always be the priorities going forward. 'Graham and I are very much hands on, there are no ivory towers here and no hiding holes, so we can ensure every part of our service holds true to what has made Andel what it is today. My dad is a true perfectionist and engineer, his favourite term is 'Belt and Braces' whilst other people might think it's overengineering, For him and Andel It's always been about Engineering excellence and providing the best service we can. When we make a tool it comes 10 years maintenance free for the reason we make it to last. One of our customers tools has run everyday since the day it was made and moulded over 1 billion components. It's cleaned and oiled but nothing has failed on it. So how is the 40th year shaping up? To be the best yet according to Managing Director Graham Robinson, 'we are busier than ever and the project pipeline looks really good for the next 12 months, we are being very careful not to over expand but more expansion is needed to cope with the prospects we have currently. March has been the highest production figures in at least the last 10 years history and that is something we are very proud of.
