This is equipment which measures, indicates, monitors, tests, controls, inspects or analyses materials or is used to prepare materials; on a stand-alone basis or integrated into a manufacturing process. It may also include in vitro diagnostic (IVD) equipment and equipment used for educational purposes in schools and colleges. Technical standards in UK and Europe are set by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and published in the Official Journal (OJ).
