Definition Product safety evaluation includes testing and certification of products that are to be installed in or related to a hazardous (classified area) location. UL can also deliver certifications of rebuilt equipment destined for a hazardous location as well as certify facilities rebuilding motors under the IECEx Scheme. Quality audits are required to gain an IECEx System Certificate of Conformity or to ship Category 1 or 2 products into the European Union under the ATEX Directive. INMETRO quality audits are required by Brazil for all electrical and electronic equipment used in explosive atmospheres. UL customers can opt to combine ATEX, IECEx, and INMETRO quality assessments into a single audit.
