Visa Terminal Type Approval

Visa Type Approval process checks whether the functionality of contactless chip card acceptance devices is in line with Visa Specifications. Visa terminal certification process verifies that a contactless payment terminal properly supports the Visa Contactless Payment Specification (VCPS) and has also obtained the specific EMVCo approval for contactless level 1 functionality. Visa Contactless Payment Specification (VCPS) tests payment readers against the quick Visa Smart Debit/Credit (qVSDC) and Magnetic Stripe Data (MSD) test plans. To mitigate the potential risk of interoperability issues, this program also includes interoperability testing (cross-testing) of the terminal device with a set of reference Visa approved cards.
