ISDN Switch Off in 2025

11-10-2018

British Telecom (BT) have announced that all their ISDN/PSTN telephone lines will be switched off in 2025. We have received a large number of sales calls coming through to both us and our clients from telephone providers (including a lot of calls from BT directly) advising of this change. We have found that many of these calls are used as a point-of-sale in trying to persuade companies to change their systems now to the new technology, e.g. a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) based solution. Obviously, 2025 is several years away, but we would recommend that if you are planning to make any telephone/system changes in the near future to speak to us beforehand, as we will ensure that your new solution will be “future proof”, which could save you a lot of money in the longer term. We do still place orders for ISDN lines where appropriate, but when doing so, we also ensure that the system has the capability to use the new technology in the future. If you are considering upgrading your telephone system and/or you do receive any calls of this nature from any providers, then please speak to us before making any commitments. We advise and assist our clients with regards to telephone systems on a daily basis and would certainly be able to assist you with this matter, including obtaining and reviewing quotations on your behalf.
