Phone Line Changes

08-04-2019

Openreach have announced that all their ISDN/PSTN telephone lines will be switched off in 2025. We are continually receiving a large number of sales calls coming through to both us and our clients from telephone providers (including a lot of calls from BT directly) advising of this change. Some of these providers are even telling companies that this change is imminent in order to persuade them to invest early in new systems compatible with the future technology, i.e. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). There is speculation that Openreach may stop selling new ISDN lines as of 2020, however, this is yet to be confirmed by Openreach, but this does not mean that any existing ISDN lines will stop working from 2020. We are recommending to our clients that if anyone is planning to make any telephone/system changes in the near future to speak to us beforehand, as we will ensure that the new solution will be “future proof”, which would save a lot of money in the longer term. We do still place orders for ISDN lines where appropriate, but when doing so, we also ensure that the system has the capability to use the new technology in the future. If you are considering of upgrading your telephone system and/or you do receive any calls of this nature from any providers, then please speak to us before making any commitments. We advise and assist our clients with regards to telephone systems on a daily basis and would certainly be able to assist you with this matter, including obtaining and reviewing quotations on your behalf. We just wanted to make companies aware of this, as there is a higher than normal number of sales calls trying to take advantage of Openreach’s announcement.
