Compliance with the second phase of this scheme must be completed and reported to the Environment Agency by December 5th 2019.

All large enterprises in the UK are affected. This is defined as having 250 employees or over, or having both a turnover greater than 50 million euros and an annual balance sheet greater than 43 million euros, or being a part of a larger organisation that falls into either of these categories.

If the qualifying organisation doesn't meet the deadline, they could receive a basic fine of £50,000, plus an additional fine of £800 per day, up to a maximum of 80 days.
