OTM Case Study

11-10-2015

- ***OTM was approached by a large defence contractor to undertake a feasibility study to look into the possibility to designing an actuator which would meet the exacting specifications of a medium sized drone aircraft***. - The contractor had spent several years attempting to develop the aircraft and this had been hampered by the poor performance of the flight control actuators used until that point. - ***Over the course of several months and with millions of cycles, the OTM designed actuators were shown, via a huge number of test reports, to be perfect for the customers specifications***. - OTM had met the original design parameters and the actuator used in the aircraft proved to outperform its predecessor by around 25%. In addition it saved around 20% in weight in terms of the overall actuator unit. - ***OTM has gone on to submit two further designs for actuators for this aircraft and each of these has demonstrated improved performance and mass over the previous units***.
