MFR … don’t believe the hype..

What’s the first thing people do when they take a look at a material data sheet to compare 2 different grades of polymer.. I bet in most cases it’s the MFR value given at the very top of the page… In the Plazology world, PP is the most common material we come across for packaging closures/applicators etc so let’s take a look at this testing method. The equipment comprises of a standard load of 2.16Kg and a heating chamber held at a constant 230°C, the PP is extruded through a die over a period of 10 minutes; the extruded mass at the end of 10 minutes is weighed and is given as g/10 min. This test methods falls under ISO 1133.
